For those that don't know, I'm Katie, founder of Charlotte Bride Guide. You can read more "about me" in my previous post, but today is about sharing "Our Story".
Wesley and I started "talking" in 2013 and finally called it official one year later, to the day. I wasn't too sure at first, but thank goodness he was patient and waited on me to be ready because the rest is history.
I've always loved that we have so much in common. We love to travel together, watch sports, and combine the two whenever we can. For two years, we lived
in Uptown and loved listening to Knights games from our apartment, watching fireworks shows on Friday nights, walking to Panthers games on Sundays, and grabbing dirt cheap Hornets tickets whenever we had a free weeknight.
A lot of my favorite moments together revolve around sports and travel, so when Wesley turned 30 during the shutdown, I knew I had to do something special for him. I was able to get every Carolina mascot to send me a special birthday video message for Wesley and I played it for him on his Zoom birthday party. Our favorite Mascot, Homer the Dragon even came by for a visit! It was pretty special, but doesn't hold a candle to what would happen the next year.
On June 5, 2021, Wesley's 31st birthday, I planned a surprise birthday party for him in a suite at the Charlotte Knights stadium. I had to enlist help from our FAVORITE mascot, Homer the Dragon, and his partner in crime, Nick, to make sure that we could get a visit from Homer to make good on what will always be a Wesley's birthday tradition. Wesley had no idea about the party and thought it would be just the two of us, out to dinner and to catch a game. I thought I really had the surprise of the year, but I didn't know what he had planned for ME!
Little did I know, Wesley had also enlisted help from Homer and Nick to make this the MOST special "knight" EVER! In front of family and friends, and a complete shock to EVERYONE, Wesley asked me to spend forever with him...and of course I SAID YES.
So who would be the first guest to receive an invite to the wedding? None other than the dragon himself, Homer. We're currently planning the most fun, epic wedding ever, but with just over two years until the big day, we enlisted Homer's help one more time to help us announce our wedding date and venue. Another moment that was so incredibly special to us, and we wouldn't have trusted anyone other than our friends at McClendon Studios to capture this special video for us. I cannot recommend them enough! Check it out!
